Odintsovo Museum of Local Lore

The museum offers a fascinating journey into the past of the Odintsovo region, introduces the interesting history of the house in which the museum is located, and its former owners. The ancient past of Odintsovo land will be shown by unique finds of archaeologists, halls dedicated to peasant life, crafts and crafts will tell about the life of peasants of villages and villages of the region. In the museum you can also learn about the tragic events of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, about the counteroffensive of the Soviet troops near Moscow, which was led from the headquarters on Vlasikha.

The Odintsovo Museum of Local Lore is located in the building of the former office of the brick factory of Vasily Ivanovich Yakunchikov, a commerce adviser, a Moscow businessman and a well-known philanthropist. Yakunchikov acquired the factory in the village of Odintsovo, Zvenigorod district, in 1876, and a brick house appeared on the site of the factory's wooden office at the end of the 19th century. The Museum of Local lore was founded thanks to local historian, teacher, and veteran Alexander Andreevich Puzatikov. It was he who achieved the appearance in June 1987 of the decision of the executive committee of the Odintsovo City Council on the organization of a museum of local lore in an old house of the late 19th century on a voluntary basis. The building was renovated for a little over two years, and on September 1, 1989, the Odintsovo Museum opened its doors to visitors.

In the exhibition halls of the museum there are exhibitions "Peasant hut. History of Russian life", "Archeology of the Odintsovo region", "Secret Artist of the Soviet Union", "The Great Patriotic War", "Soviet life", "Polytechnic Hall", etc. Art exhibitions and exhibitions devoted to the history of country theaters are held in the exhibition halls; decorative and applied art objects are on display. The museum's outdoor area shows samples of Soviet-era equipment and weapons, including the Topol mobile missile system.
